Privacy Policy

Effective April 2025 · Governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

1. What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to run Voca. This may include your email address, basic profile information when you sign in with Google (such as name and profile photo), and session metadata related to matchmaking and usage (for example timestamps, language preferences, and session duration).

We do not store your raw voice audio for marketing purposes. Any audio processed for features such as AI pronunciation feedback is handled according to the purposes described below and our technical configuration at the time of processing.

2. Why we collect it

  • Matchmaking: to pair you with suitable practice partners quickly and safely.
  • AI feedback: to generate pronunciation and coaching insights when you use features that rely on speech processing.
  • Streaks and scores: to show progress, motivation, and personalized stats inside the app.
  • Safety: to investigate reports, enforce our terms, and protect the community.

3. Data retention

Session-related records are retained for up to 90 days where they are needed for safety, debugging, or product analytics, unless a longer period is required by law.

Account data is kept until you delete your account or request erasure, after which we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period unless we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations.

4. Your GDPR rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to data portability where applicable. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@vocaapp.com.
